A Europa deve intensificar a sua resposta global \u00e0 COVID-19 <\/strong>(Tradu\u00e7\u00e3o do original em ingl\u00eas)<\/h1>\n

Os pa\u00edses europeus devem acelerar e aumentar o seu apoio a outras na\u00e7\u00f5es do mundo nesta fase da pandemia global. No final do encontro de um dia no s\u00e1bado, 24 de abril, os secret\u00e1rios-gerais da Rede Cat\u00f3lica Justi\u00e7a e Paz na Europa lan\u00e7aram um apelo urgente aos l\u00edderes europeus para que reforcem o mecanismo COVAX e outros mecanismos de ajuda bilaterais e multilaterais. Durante o encontro anual, os representantes de mais de 20 comiss\u00f5es nacionais Justi\u00e7a e Paz e outras organiza\u00e7\u00f5es cat\u00f3licas relataram as suas atividades nas atuais condi\u00e7\u00f5es da pandemia.<\/p>\n

O programa incluiu tamb\u00e9m testemunhos informativos de ativistas da Justi\u00e7a e Paz no Brasil e no Uganda. Em ambos os pa\u00edses – como tamb\u00e9m sucede atualmente na \u00cdndia – e, na verdade, em 90% dos pa\u00edses do mundo, os servi\u00e7os essenciais de sa\u00fade est\u00e3o em situa\u00e7\u00e3o de rutura. A Uni\u00e3o Europeia, os seus Estados membros e outros pa\u00edses europeus ajudaram generosamente nos \u00faltimos meses. Agora, por\u00e9m, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio e urgente intensificar os esfor\u00e7os. S\u00e3o necess\u00e1rias mais iniciativas n\u00e3o governamentais, inclusive por parte de organiza\u00e7\u00f5es cat\u00f3licas de ajuda humanit\u00e1ria.<\/p>\n

Num outro painel de debate com o Padre Gianni Criveller, Ben Rogers e a eurodeputada Miriam Lexmann, os participantes analisaram a perspetiva de um Acordo Global de Investimento UE-China ap\u00f3s a dura implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de uma nova Lei de Seguran\u00e7a em Hong Kong e viola\u00e7\u00f5es dos direitos humanos por parte do regime comunista na China.<\/p>\n

Nas pr\u00f3ximas semanas, e \u00e0 luz dos seus debates e relat\u00f3rios deste encontro, os delegados da JP Europa determinar\u00e3o o tema da sua a\u00e7\u00e3o concertada anual de 2022. A assembleia geral anual ter\u00e1 lugar na B\u00e9lgica de 1 a 4 de outubro de 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Europe needs to step up its global COVID-19 response<\/strong><\/h1>\n
European countries need to accelerate and increase their support for other nations in the world in this phase of the global pandemic. At the end of their one day meeting on Saturday 24th of April the secretaries general of the Catholic Justice and Peace Europe network launched an urgent appeal to European leaders to reinforce the COVAX facility and other bi- and multilateral aid mechanisms.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
During the annual meeting the representatives of more than 20 national Justice and Peace commissions and other Catholic organisations reported on their activities under the conditions of the pandemic. The proceedings also included informative testimonies of Justice & Peace activists in Brazil and Uganda.<\/div>\n

In both countries – as is also currently the case in India – and actually in 90% of the countries in the world, essential health services are disrupted. The European Union, its members states and other European countries have helped generously in recent months. Now, however, it is necessary and urgent to step up efforts. More non-governmental initiatives are needed, including on the part of Catholic relief organisations.*<\/div>\n

In a further round of discussions with Father Gianni Criveller, Mr Ben Rogers and Mrs Miriam Lexmann MEP the participants considered the prospect for a Comprehensive EU China Agreement on Investment after the harsh implementation of a new Security Law in Hong Kong and human rights infringements by the Communist regime in China.<\/div>\n

In the course of the coming weeks and in the light of their discussions and reports on Saturday, delegates of JP Europe will determine the theme of their annual concerted action 2022. The annual general assembly will take place in Belgium from 1 \u2013 4 October 2021.<\/div>\n
